Workshops in Brisbane

138 things on · 84 free

Workshops are the learn-something, hands-on end of the calendar: writing and craft classes, digital skills, maker sessions and the like. Most are pitched at adults and seniors rather than children. The State Library of Queensland runs far and away the most, with the Gallery of Modern Art and the Brisbane Powerhouse behind it and the Queensland Museum in the mix, all at South Bank or across the river in New Farm. Out in the suburbs, branch libraries carry the rest, among them Garden City at Upper Mount Gravatt, Carindale, West End and Mt Coot-tha. About three in five sessions are free, and the rest show their price on each listing. These are weekday affairs: Thursday is the busiest day by a clear margin, with Wednesday next, so a midweek class is the norm. For the South Bank venues, use the Cultural Centre busway or South Bank station; the Powerhouse is a CityCat ride to the New Farm Park or Sydney Street terminal, and the suburban libraries sit on local bus routes.
