Music in Brisbane

222 things on · 68 free

Live music in Brisbane runs on a ticketed room circuit, and five venues carry most of it. The Tivoli at 52 Costin Street holds the biggest share; the Princess Theatre, Fortitude Music Hall, Brisbane Powerhouse and QPAC fill out the rest. That puts Fortitude Valley at the centre, with more gigs than anywhere else on our calendar, then Woolloongabba’s Princess, the CBD and New Farm. The week builds midweek: Wednesday and Thursday are both busy, and Friday is the biggest night of the lot, so a weeknight gig is as likely as a weekend one. About three in ten listings are free, while the rest are ticketed and the price sits on each event.

Getting to the Valley rooms is simple: Fortitude Valley station sits in the middle of the precinct and the area is a bus hub. The Princess is a short walk from the Mater Hill and Buranda busway stops, and the Powerhouse is a CityCat ride to the New Farm Park or Sydney Street terminal.
