What’s on in Brisbane’s north

92 things on · 88 free

The northside has no single venue carrying its calendar; it runs on a web of branch libraries instead. Chermside, Mitchelton, Bracken Ridge, Everton Park and Grange each put on their own program, with the Downfall Creek Bushland Centre at Chermside West adding the outdoor end. That spreads the listings across a dozen suburbs rather than one address. The bulk of it is free and weighted to families: the libraries’ story times, craft sessions and community mornings make kids’ and community events the biggest slices, with live music, nature sessions and a smaller run of council park exercise classes — yoga, pilates, tai chi — behind. It’s a daytime, weekday calendar, busiest Tuesday to Friday with almost nothing on a Sunday: a free, daytime northside day out.

Getting around means thinking suburb by suburb. Chermside is the main bus interchange, with routes feeding the Westfield there; Mitchelton sits on the Ferny Grove line and Nundah on the Shorncliffe line. For the rest, check Translink for the nearest bus.
