What’s on in Chermside

Chermside is the big northside hub — a sprawl of shopping and health services around Gympie and Hamilton Roads — and its events run to match. Most come out of Chermside Library on Hamilton Road: kids’ sessions and community mornings, a run of fitness, plus music, a workshop or two and the occasional stage show. The rest are scattered close by — swim sessions at Chermside Pool, activities at the Burnie Brae seniors’ centre on Kuran Street, and the odd outdoor listing at 7th Brigade Park. Most of it is free, and it’s weekday-daytime by nature, so it suits a mid-week visit. The reach is broad: plenty for adults and seniors, a solid kids’ strand, even a few things for teens.

There’s no train to Chermside; the way in is the bus. The Chermside interchange sits inside Westfield Chermside, one of the busiest bus stations on the north side, with routes fanning out across town. The centre car park is vast if you drive.
