What’s on in Brisbane City

In the city centre, most of what’s on is free — around seven in ten events cost nothing. Most of it is civic and gallery programming. The Museum of Brisbane, up in City Hall on Adelaide Street, runs the biggest share, with free performances in Queen Street Mall, exhibitions at the Anzac Square Memorial Galleries on Ann Street, and events in King George Square filling in around it. Riverstage, down in the City Botanic Gardens, adds the ticketed gigs. The mix spans music, art, theatre and guided tours, so there’s a bit of everything, and a good deal of it suits a family afternoon in town.

Getting in is simple. Central and Roma Street stations both sit in the CBD, King George Square is a major bus station, and CityCat terminals at Riverside and North Quay bring you in by river. The City Botanic Gardens and Roma Street Parkland give you green space and playgrounds within walking distance of the venues.
