Karawatha Forest Park and Discovery Centre

9 things on · 9 free

Karawatha Forest Park sits on bushland at 149 Acacia Road, Karawatha, in the city’s south, with a Discovery Centre at its heart. Everything on our calendar here is free. The programs are nature and kids’ activities, many of them ranger-led, and several are pitched at little ones around ages three to five. They’re scattered across the week, with a little more happening midweek than at the weekend.

This is a bushland reserve on the edge of the suburbs, so it’s set up for driving rather than public transport. The main car park is at the Discovery Centre, reached from the 149 Acacia Road entry, and there’s a second, smaller car park near the picnic area at the southern end, off Illaweena Street. The Discovery Centre is open Tuesday to Sunday, 9am to 4pm, and closed on Mondays, while the forest and its tracks open daily from 6am to 6pm.
