Our pickBush Kindy - Tea Party with Tree
Karawatha Forest Park and Discovery Centre
Everything on our Karawatha list is free, and it’s all at one place: the Karawatha Forest Park and Discovery Centre, on Acacia Road. The programme leans to nature and family activities: ranger-led walks, bushland sessions and the occasional animal or art activity. It’s set in one of the city’s larger bushland reserves. Something is usually on midweek, often a Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday, as well as across the weekend, so it suits a school-holiday morning as readily as a Saturday outing.
Karawatha is a car-first reserve on Brisbane’s southside, so plan to drive. The Discovery Centre and its car park are off Acacia Road. Public transport out this way is limited, so check Brisbane City Council’s Karawatha Forest page for parking, access and any bus options before you set out. The reserve has walking tracks running off the Discovery Centre — bring water and sun cover, and leave time to wander once the activity wraps up.
