What’s on in New Farm

Nearly everything on in New Farm runs out of one building: the Brisbane Powerhouse, the old riverside power station turned arts centre at 119 Lamington Street. That shapes the calendar. Workshops are the biggest slice, then theatre, festival programming, comedy and a bit of live music, so a night out here might be a play, a class or a late set. As a full arts centre it leans to the weekend. Saturday is the busiest day by a clear margin, with Sunday next. Almost nothing here is free.

New Farm has no train station. The easy way in is the CityCat: the New Farm Park and Sydney Street ferry terminals each land you a few minutes’ walk from the Powerhouse, and buses run down Brunswick Street from the city. New Farm Park sits next door at 137 Sydney Street, good for a wander before or after a show.
