What’s on in Wynnum

Wynnum is the one bayside suburb on our calendar, and the program keeps the foreshore close. Most of what’s on runs out of Wynnum Library on Florence Street, a short way back from the water: storytime and craft for kids, community mornings and the odd workshop, with a smaller run of fitness sessions and a bit of music and film. The Wynnum Wading Pool Park on the Esplanade adds a few open-air listings, and Bayside Cinemas on Berrima Street turns up now and then for a screening. The great majority of it is free. What’s on here leans to an older crowd — seniors and adults — though there’s a steady strand for little kids, and it’s weekday daytime more than weekend.

Wynnum sits on the Cleveland line, so the train is simple: Wynnum and Wynnum Central stations are both a walk from the shops, and buses run along Bay Terrace from the city. Pair a library session with a wander along the Esplanade and the foreshore pool.
