What’s on in Upper Mount Gravatt

You don’t have to leave the shopping centre to find most of what’s on in Upper Mount Gravatt. Garden City Library sits inside Westfield Mt Gravatt, and it runs the bulk of the listings here — hands-on workshops, kids’ sessions and community mornings, with a few fitness classes and the occasional music or art event. A handful of things happen elsewhere: the Upper Mt Gravatt Progress Hall on Logan Road, a local pool, the PCYC. Most listings are free, and they’re spread across the working week rather than bunched at the weekend, so a weekday drop-in works well. The audience splits fairly evenly between adults, seniors and kids.

Getting there is built for buses, not trains. Garden City bus station, above the centre, is one of the biggest interchanges on the city’s south side, and Upper Mount Gravatt busway station sits below it on the South East Busway for fast runs to and from town. There’s no train line out here, but the centre car park is large. Fold a free session into a trip to the shops.
