What’s on in Indooroopilly

Indooroopilly is one of the few suburbs this far west with both its own train station and a full-sized shopping centre, and the calendar uses both halves of that. Indooroopilly Library sits on Level 4 of the shopping centre, next to Event Cinemas on Moggill Road, and runs most of what’s on: community mornings, storytime and craft for little ones, a seniors’ book club, a memoir-writing group, a crafters’ circle. The other strand heads outdoors — free low-impact fitness, yoga and Swiss-ball classes in local parks like Essex Road Park and Rainbow Forest Park. Nearly all of it is free, the audience leans to seniors and adults with a steady kids’ thread running through it, and Monday is the busiest day by a clear margin, with Friday next.

The train makes it simple: Indooroopilly station, on the Ipswich/Rosewood line, is a short walk from the centre, and buses run from town to the shopping-centre stops. There’s centre parking if you’d rather drive.
