First 5 Forever toddler time
Carindale Library
Most suburb libraries lean on storytime; Carindale’s leans the other way. The program out of Carindale Library — upstairs in Westfield Carindale on Creek Road — is built for grown-ups: media-literacy and one-on-one tech-help workshops, a creative writers’ group, an English conversation circle, a CPR awareness session, a talk with a financial planner. Workshops are the biggest slice, then community get-togethers, with just a thread of toddler sessions and the odd music or theatre date. Every listing is free, and the audience splits almost evenly between adults and seniors. The week opens busiest here — Monday and Tuesday carry the most — so think of it as an early-week calendar rather than a weekend one. The one session that leaves the library, a Zumba Gold class, moves up the road to the Carindale Recreation Reserve on Cadogan Street.
Getting here is a bus job: Carindale bus station sits inside the centre, one of the eastside’s busiest interchanges. There’s no train line out this way, and a vast car park if you drive.
